How to Launch a GPU Instance

These instructions explain how to launch a GPU instance if your project has the ability to access the GPU feature in SDSC Cloud Compute. The steps assume familiarity with launching instances. Please refer to the Linux or Windows getting started guides for detailed instance launching instructions.

The SDSC Cloud Compute GPU feature is only available to users who request GPUs from SDSC. Please email services@sdsc.edu to submit a GPU request.

Instructions

  1. Open the SDSC Cloud Dashboard at https://dashboard.cloud.sdsc.edu

  2. Navigate to “Compute” → “Instances” in the navigation menu on the left and choose the “Launch Instance” option.

  3. In the “Flavor” tab, choose one of the GPU flavors. The GPUs will not be displayed in the resource columns, but can be identified by the flavor including “gpu” in the name.

  4. Set any other required fields as desired.

  5. Click “Launch Instance.”
