Theme/Purpose

Bulbabites is a web application that provides meal generation and meal planning features presented through an intuitive calendar-based user interface. With the ability to mark meal plans and individual recipes as favorites, users contribute to the refinement of our integrated recommender system. This recommender system utilizes a comprehensive set of factors, including dietary restrictions, ingredient preferences, body weight, caloric objectives, and fitness goals, to deliver personalized meal recommendations. Please note that the web app is optimized for desktop usage and may not be formatted for mobile devices. Thanks for checking us out!

	Name: Ella Tung School: University of California, San Diego Major(s): Computer Science Short Bio: Hi, all! I’m Ella Tung and I worked as a project manager in my team. From a young age I’ve been drawn to computers and technology. While my journey has led me to studying computer science, I’ve discovered that coding, though valuable, isn’t where my real passion resides. Instead, I am far more excited by the profound impact that computational advancements have in amplifying human creativity. Female leaders like Mira Murati inspire me, and I’m super grateful to be given the opportunity to hone my leadership skills as a project manager in our summer program with my talented developers. 	Name: Philip Chi School: University of California, San Diego Major(s): Cognitive Science w/ Specialization in Machine Learning & Neural Computation Minor(s): Computer Science Short Bio: Hi, I’m Philip, an incoming fourth year student at UCSD. I am the product owner and I worked as a designer and a backend developer for the team. My work mainly focuses on designing the wireframe and mockup of the product on Figma in the early stages, and creating and maintaining the database and building the rest API in the later stages. I've been a member of the Bulbasquad team during my internship at SDSC. My primary focus has been on frontend implementation. I've been responsible for maintaining effective communication between frontend and backend developers, ensuring a smooth connection between the two. Additionally, I've had the opportunity to contribute to the design of UI pages. During my free time, I enjoy spending time with friends, watching movies, and traveling. 	Name: Olivia Simonds School: Major(s): Cognitive Science with a specialization in Design and Interaction Short Bio: Hi Im Olivia, an incoming senior at UCSD pursuing a degree in CogSci. I have been focusing on implementing interactive UI pages for the frontend development of the Meal Planner application we have been working on. I’m Nate, a Backend Developer focusing on the Machine Learning Infrastructure for the app as well as anything related to the Data side. 	Name: Margaret Luo School: University of California, San Diego Major(s): Math & Computer Science / Cognitive Science w/ Specialization in Machine Learning & Neural Computation Short Bio: Hello! I’m Margaret, a backend developer for Bulbasquad. Throughout development I focused on setting up our web server, building the API and maintaining the two as ideas sparked along the way. My interests and hobbies include photography, cinematography, accompanying my own vocals and visiting art museums on free days. The main form of exercise I participate in is evening walks (the UCSD campus is wonderful for that).
