Theme/Purpose
As a team, we were interested in working closely with SDSC in improving their services and taking on a task comparable to one we’d see in a corporate setting. The SysAdmin Mapper Tool idea aligned with our interests as a team and was a product that we felt could greatly benefit SDSC. By bringing the idea to life, we hope to streamline the work process.
Product
Our product is a data visualization tool for SDSC’s systems. Our SDSC System Mapper tool aims to make understanding the relationship between systems managed by SDSC easier and to display the scale of their services. The SDSC System Mapper we’ve created is the first iteration of SDSC’s SysAdmin Mapper. The mapper is created using React, REST API, NodeJs, MariaDB, and Redux. We’ve integrated react-d3-tree and react-simple-maps in order to illustrate the data and its relationships in a user-friendly and intuitive way, allowing for easy access to system information. The SDSC System Mapper displays over 600+ systems managed by SDSC in an organized manner that is easy to navigate and can accommodate the scale of SDSC’s services. By creating an easy-access database lookup and relationship mapper, we aim to create a tool that can efficiently and effectively aid SDSC in its work.
