We wanted to Instead of having to comb through the depths of subreddits, blogs, and tweets, we wanted to build a mobile app that allows UCSD students to compile all of their opinions about UCSD landmarks in one place. Aiming to create a mobile app that would allow UCSD students to review locations that are specific to UCSD that aren’t found on other conventional review apps. This includes dining halls, study spots, dorms, and lecture halls. and inspired by Yelp and Google Maps, we created Roast and Review which utilizes a user-friendly review system as well as an interactive map to provide a space where UCSD students can share any opinions they have about campus!

Product Installation

Physical Android Device

• make sure apps from unknown sources are allowed to be installed. Settings > Apps > Special Access > Install Unknown apps

• go to this link on your android device to download the application

• open the downloaded file and install the app

iOS Simulator

• MacOS is a requirement

• clone the repo using git clone . Repo link: https://gitlab.com/sdsc-rds/summer-internships/rds-interns-su23/the-sixpacks/ucsd-rating-webapp/-/tree/main

• cd frontend

• npm install

• follow this link to set up the iOS Simulator

• npx expo start

• press i to open the application

Android Emulator

• follow this link to install the Android Emulator

• clone the repo using git clone . Repo link: https://gitlab.com/sdsc-rds/summer-internships/rds-interns-su23/the-sixpacks/ucsd-rating-webapp/-/tree/main

• cd frontend

• npm install

• start your Android Emulator from the command line using emulator -avd <emulator name>

• npx expo start

• press a to open the application on the Android Emulator
