This article explains how to add an SDSC printer on a Mac computer in OSX.
NOTE: If you are connected to the UCSD wireless network, you must connect to the VPN in order to print.
Instructions
- Download and install the driver for the printer you would like to add (see the below list for printer names and model below). http://www.support.xerox.com/support/enus.html
- Open “System Preferences…” and click “Printers and Scanners”. Click the + button to add a new printer.
- Click the “IP” button and enter in the following information, and click “Add”:
- Protocol: Line Printer Daemon - LPD
- Address: sc-print.ad.ucsd.edu
- Queue: "Connection Name" (e.g. SDSC-E183.Opal)
- Name: Whatever you would like to call the printer
- Location: (optional) Enter a location if you like
- Use: The driver for the printer (see the list below)
- You will be asked to setup the printer’s options:
- Workcentre 3345
- Check Tray 2
- Toner Save: Off
- RAM Disk: Disable
- Workcentre 7845
- Paper Trays: 6 Trays (High Capacity Feeder and Tandem Trays)
- Finisher: Office Finisher LX
- Hole Punch Module: Not Installed
- LAN Fax Module: Not Installed
- Job Storage Module: Installed
- LAN Fax Email Confirmation: Not Installed
- Workcentre 3345
- The printer will finish installing and should now show up in your printer list.
- The first time you attempt to print a document, it will ask you to authenticate. Enter in your UCSD AD username and password (check “Remember this password in my keychain” if you do not wish to authenticate every time you print), and click “OK”.
